For the twelfth edition of 1-54 in London, at Somerset House from 10 to 13 October 2024, L'Atelier 21 presents four artists on its stand W17, M'barek Bouhchichi, Margaux Derhy, Hako Hankson and Derrick Ofosu Boateng, around a contemporary figuration rooted in Africa.
Margaux Derhy unveils embroideries made over the year in Massa with the women she has been training for several months in contemporary embroidery, including Et que Lydia s'en souvienne, hand embroidery and sfiffa on linen, and Cela dit comme tu l'aimes, hand embroidery on cotton. Each piece carries months of work, learning and sharing.
Exhibiting at this fair, of which she had dreamed so much during her studies in London, is for the artist a moment of great emotion and an opening for the atelier.
